POWDER COATING
The Process and the Green Alternative
Powder coating is more environmentally friendly than solvent-based coating application systems and is considered today’s sustainable metal finishing choice. Powder coating not only protects your aluminum and steel surfaces and extrusions from the elements and corrosion but also reflects solar radiation thus helping to keep areas cool. Additionally, at the end of life, the recycling process actually removes the powder coating without detrimental effects so the aluminum or steel can be recycled. Please inquire about our longer- life powder coatings that are also available.
Quality is important to us at Best Powder Coatings. We want our customers to receive the very best corrosion resistance and powder coat durability possible. We inspect your product parts at multiple points prior to, during and after the powder coating process.
We have a long-standing commitment to educate our customers on the benefits of powder coating and do a professional quality job on their product making the end result a better-than-factory finish. Our finishes are all hand applied with more coating thickness than that which factories apply. In addition, each and every part is inspected to ensure customer satisfaction.
Powder coating is tough and will last for many years as long as its applied correctly and that is what we do here at Best Powder Coatings. We do not believe in shortcuts because they always come back to haunt you. We monitor every aspect of the application and inspect your items multiple times to make sure the powder coating will be maintenance free and your product / project will be maintenance free and will look “brand new” for years to come.
Best Powder Coatings is your reliable, on-time partner for all your powder coating needs.

-
What items can be Powder Coated?Any electrically conductive metal or material that can withstand 400° F temperature without losing its integrity.
-
How do you prepare parts for Powder Coating?Surface must be perfectly clean, typically metal surface exposed with no contaminants. Oil must be thoroughly removed. GPC does this preparation for you. Before you bring the parts to us, please remove any rubber, plastics, gaskets, bearings, and other parts that are sensitive to 400° F temperature including excess oil and grease. For example, bring your rims without tires and valve stems.
-
Why should I use Powder Coating?Powder coated product simply looks better. It’s more durable than liquid paint, more chip resistant, has superior adhesion, is less expensive than liquid paint of comparable performance, environmentally friendly, chemically resistant, and ready to use as soon as a part has cooled down.
-
Is there a Powder Coating process that resembles chrome?Yes, the powder coating “Near Chrome” is very comparable, however you lose the mirror effect with the finished product.
-
Can you clear coat with Powder?Yes!
-
Can you strip paint?Yes! Parts can be sandblasted for an additional charge.
-
What colors and textures are available?Best Powder Coatings has a good selection of colors and textures available in stock. Should you select a color not available in our stock we would be pleased to order it from a powder manufacturer. The powder coating industry has several hundred colors and textures available in stock.
-
How large a part can you coat?Our batch oven is 20’ X 12’ X 10’ and our Conveyor line can hold 24’ X 32” X 90”
-
What is typically Powder Coated?Any metal or conductive parts withstanding 400° F temperature and requiring resistant, aesthetically appealing coating against corrosion and oxidization. Powder coating is extensively used in appliances, automotive, agricultural equipment, electronics, fabricated steel, fitness and sporting goods equipment, furniture, garden equipment, medical equipment, office equipment and store fixture industries.
-
What determines cost?Number of pieces (piece cost decreases as the number of parts increases per batch), stripping required, masking required, color (non-stock colors are more expensive), texture, piece weight and maximum material thickness are the main factors affecting cost.
-
Do you handle small jobs?Yes!
-
What imperfections will Powder Coating cover up?Powder coating can cover minor scratches and small imperfections. Smooth glossy powders are the most demanding and matte or textured powders the most forgiving for surface preparation. However, Powder Coating will not make up for poor workmanship. As with any coating, the result is only as good as the surface it was applied on.
-
What is the turnaround time? Can you have it finished sooner? We like to have 7 working days on standard colors. If a custom color is selected, it may be as many as 15 working days pending on the arrival of the powder. Expedited pricing is available upon request.
